If you watched local tv in Las Vegas during the 1990s, chances are this line is still taking up space in your head.
“Who loves ya, baby? The Furniture Store, that’s who!”
The commercials were impossible to miss. A bald salesman, a lollipop, a not-so-subtle nod to Kojak, and a catchphrase repeated often enough to become part of the city’s shared vocabulary. You did not need to be shopping for a sofa to know exactly who The Furniture Store was.
That was the magic of local Las Vegas television back then. Businesses became characters, commercials became inside jokes, and certain lines followed you around for decades.
For a generation of locals, “Who loves ya, baby?” still gets only one correct answer.
